Intent - Mastery approach

Year 5 and 6 students at Kings' College Maths Project

SEND

Access to the full maths curriculum for pupils with Special Educational Needs is carefully planned and supported by class teachers and support staff. Lessons are thoughtfully adapted to ensure all pupils can engage with, and make progress within, the same ambitious curriculum as their peers.

Interventions

Maths interventions are bespoke and tailored to meet the specific needs of individual pupils. Drawing on the principles of precision teaching, these sessions are delivered in short, focused bursts to develop specific skills and secure key procedural knowledge.

Maths Mastery

The Priory uses the Mastery approach to the teaching of Mathematics. If you would like to find out more about this, please read our Maths Intent Document here.

Maths at home:

Times Table Rockstars is excellent for developing fluency and mental maths for all ages! Children make themselves a rock star avatar and can compete with other children from their year in answering times tables questions.

National Oak Academy is a great online learning platform that has lessons for all year groups taught by teachers to support maths concepts at home

White rose maths also provides extra materials for free and we highly recommend parents to download the 1-minute maths app which is a good app to boost your child’s mental maths calculation.
